# Kryptonite

> Kryptonite is a searchable directory of meme sounds, sound effects (SFX) and reaction sounds built for AI agents. Agents connect through a remote MCP server or a REST API to search, preview and download short MP3 sounds for video editing; humans browse the same catalog at https://kryptonite.gg. Every sound carries its licence and a legal note.

Catalog: 724 published sounds, 55 CC0 (commercial use OK). Files are re-encoded MP3 (audio/mpeg), mostly 0.3–30 s. A project by VibeDojo (https://vibedojo.it) × Cardinal (https://cardinal.solar).

## Limits (per day, reset 00:00 UTC)

- Anonymous (per hashed IP): 5 searches + 5 downloads.
- Free account / API key: 1000 searches + 300 downloads.
- When a quota is exceeded the error tells the user to sign up at /signup and create an API key at /dashboard. Fair use applies; bulk mirroring or scraping of the catalog is not allowed.

## Licence policy (read before using a sound)

- `cc0` — CC0 1.0: Public domain dedication. Free to reuse, including commercially, no attribution required. Commercial use: yes.
- `cc-by` — CC BY 4.0: Free to reuse, including commercially, with attribution to the author. Commercial use: yes.
- `own-work` — Uploader's own work: Uploaded by the author, who declares to own all rights. Personal use; contact the author for commercial use. Commercial use: no.
- `unverified` — Rights unverified: Community-sourced sound. Rights belong to their respective owners and have not been verified. Personal, non-commercial use only. Verify the licence before any commercial or monetised use. Commercial use: no.
- Agents must surface the licence to the user and flag `unverified` sounds as personal, non-commercial use only. Use `license=commercial` (REST) or the licence filter (MCP) for monetised videos.
